If you have been following us at all you have probably seen the prints of it, or at least a reference to the phrase “don’t lick the art”. Since we work with reclaimed materials, we have had people express concerns over the fact that some may contain lead, and rightfully so. But as long as you aren’t licking it, you should be good. We put a light coat of polyurethane on most pieces, keeping flakes of suspect paint from coming off and works to seal the piece. The real danger lies in handling the stock, then cutting and sanding the material. But don’t worry about us! We have a great dust collector, down draft table, respirators, overhead filters and, weather permitting, fans blowing air out the windows. Nonetheless, just don’t lick the art!
